About the Founder

 

Nicola Hill-Solomon

Nicola Hill-Solomon is the Founder and Executive Director of Heart of Glass. This rescue is based on the philosophy that ALL animals deserve a life filled with love, respect, and acceptance. A vegan since childhood, Nicola has made caring for and protecting animals her way of life. From saving every creature in need since childhood, to seven years managing at the Providence Animal Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she has relentlessly fought for misfit animals for over 30 years. Nicola lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with her husband and fellow board member Victor and their multiple furry children.

Heart of Glass Animal Rescue

Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Heart of Glass rescue was founded in 2022 as a safe haven for homeless, marginalized animals and to help fellow shelters and rescues, when needed. Our open arms policy for all animals despite their physical, mental, or behavioral challenges, provides the unbiased and loving environment these animals need. We are unique individuals with unique needs in life—and, our animals are no different. We are Misfits saving Misfits.
